This position reports to
Supplier Quality Assurance Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will drive the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remains fully qualified and compliant. Support supplier onboarding (buyer responsible). Conduct risk assessments and plan and execute, or oversee, required supplier assessments including reporting and non-conformance management. Verify effective closure of assessment non-conformances. Ensure suppliers comply with ABB Supplier Code of Conduct, ethics, corporate governance, standards, and regulations. Collaborate with category teams, responsible buyers, Quality & Operations, Sustainability/HSE, R&D/Engineering, and project teams. Represent the ‘Voice of Supplier’ and ‘Voice of Customer’ within ABB. The role is onsite in Richmond, VA, contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Perform supplier audits, develop and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review documentation, processes, and controls for Part Qualification and PPAP. Coordinate first article inspections and testing.
  • Monitor performance of subcontractors and outsourcing, create performance reports, and lead continuous improvements.
  • Lead and support non-conforming materials issues with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects, focusing on cost savings and supplier performance.
  • Develop targeted suppliers for ongoing conformity and quality improvements.
Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to ensure conformance with customer and ABB requirements, and implement category strategies.
  • Experience in risk mitigation and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Willingness to travel less than 30%.
  • Must have valid work authorization for the US.
