Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation is seeking a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer for our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, supplier oversight, and collaboration with Design Engineering, Sourcing, and Quality teams to improve critical supplier performance.

Salary range is $76,200.00 - $127,000.00 per year. The position requires on-site work in Cheswick, PA with the possibility of travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience in a Manufacturing Lead role.
  • A minimum of five (5) years in a manufacturing environment with primary experience in machining, fabrication welding, testing, winding and/or assembly processes.
  • Prior experience working on-site with suppliers
  • Experience in commercial nuclear, defense, aerospace, energy, or similarly regulated industries
  • Working knowledge of quality systems within nuclear/defense (e.g., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1; ISO-9001, MIL-I-45208)
  • Blue print reading, GD&T per ASME Y14.5M
  • Experience with procedures, work instructions, drawings, or routing creation/review
  • Evaluating design changes and how they affect manufacturing processes
  • Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills
  • Problem solving with tight tolerances and rework of deviations
  • DoD security clearance eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Support Purchasing initiatives by identifying critical suppliers
  • Partner with critical suppliers to ensure day-to-day flawless production execution
  • Proactively develop critical suppliers to improve performance and resolve vulnerabilities
  • Build relationships with critical suppliers to improve on-time delivery, capability, yield, and throughput
  • Serve as expert in critical supplier manufacturing processes
  • Lead technical reviews, PFMEA, control plans, audits, and on-site oversight
  • Support critical supplier capacity assessments
  • Lead root cause and corrective action for manufacturing nonconformances
  • Coordinate supplier documentation, inspections, audits, and regulatory or customer visits
  • Perform and support nonconformance dispositioning
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal design engineering, quality, supply chain, and program teams
  • Share best practices across internal and supplier organizations
  • Travel 50% local or international as required

We are looking for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Your Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will play a key role in the Curtiss-Wright EMD Purchasing organization as a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to provide hands on problem solving and technical judgement to assist mission critical suppliers. The individual will perform proactive supplier oversight to review and evaluate supplier processes and employ preventative/correction actions as required to improve on-time delivery and supplier manufacturing efficiency. The individual will be required to work hand-in-hand with Design Engineering, Sourcing team members, Supplier Quality Engineers, and Project Management to result in improved critical Supplier performance.

Salary: $76,200.00 - $127,000.00 per year

Your Challenge:

  • Support Purchasing department initiatives by assisting with identification of critical suppliers,
  • Act as a primary manufacturing engineer partnering with critical suppliers ensuring day-to-day flawless production execution,
  • Proactive development of critical suppliers to act on opportunities for improvement and to resolve vulnerability issues,
  • Relationship building with critical suppliers to improve communication, on-time delivery performance through capability, yield improvement, and throughput optimization,
  • Acting as expert in critical supplier manufacturing process execution,
  • Technical leadership via performance of technical reviews, production/first article readiness reviews, Product Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans, process audits and on-site oversight,
  • Support critical supplier capacity assessments,
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to manufacturing nonconformances,
  • Coordinate supplier preparation for documentation submittals, source inspections, audits, and regulatory or customer visits as required,
  • Perform and support nonconformance dispositioning as required,
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal design engineering, quality, supply chain, and program teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues,
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across internal and supplier organizations,
  • Travel (50% local, domestic or international as required)

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience in a Manufacturing Lead role,
  • A minimum of five (5) years in a manufacturing environment with primary experience in one or more of the following: machining, fabrication welding, testing, winding and/or assembly processes,
  • Prior experience working on-site with suppliers highly desired,
  • Experience in commercial nuclear, defense, aerospace, energy, or similarly regulated industries,
  • Working knowledge of quality systems within the commercial nuclear (i.e., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) or defense industry (i.e., ISO-9001, MIL-I-45208) desired,
  • Blue print reading, particularly involving GD&T per ASME Y14.5M,
  • Former experience with procedure, work instruction, drawing or routing creation, review or approval,
  • Evaluation of design changes, and/or other specifications requirements, with experience in determining how those changes relate to potential manufacturing process changes,
  • Excellent organization, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills,
  • Problem solving, especially involving tight feature tolerances and rework of part deviations,
  • Green or Black Belt Lean Certification a plus,
  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens,
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
