Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Supplier Manager to lead collaboration with internal and external suppliers to improve on-time shipping and part availability for aftersales customers. You will coordinate buildout plans, PFEPs, and supplier scheduling aligned with Engineering intents and supplier capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Meet established metrics and support all ‘We Are General Motors’ initiatives.
• Executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization’s business objectives.
• Work in a team environment that motivates and allows professional growth.

• Guides one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded.
• Work collaboratively across multiple functional areas to resolve various issues; both internal and external to GM/AFTERSALES.
• Provide weekly updates to supply chain leadership as to the performance of the assigned suppliers and individual part issues.
• Work with supplier performance deck owners and support them in their daily tasks.
• Responsible for Part Change Management within SCM and ability to analyze, resolve, and process complex conditions
• Support Allied Buildout Projects, developing PFEP’s (plan for every part), Bridge Execution and New Supplier Resourcing.
• Maintain and assure On Time Shipping Targets, and monthly Allied Scorecards.
• Act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support.
• Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers.
• Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production.
• Assess supplier schedules and impact on vehicle assembly production.
• Handle very complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation.
• Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution.

The Role :
The Supplier Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with internal/ external suppliers and cross-functional team members to improve on-time shipping performance. The Supplier Manager ensures that established ship plans are met to maintain service part availability for our aftersales customers. This includes removing all roadblocks and working proactively to help suppliers develop corrective actions. The overall goal is to improve part availability for aftersales customers in Allied Sheet Metal, Propulsion and/or Battery commodities. The responsibility includes handling part changes within SCM systems and ensure supplier schedules are aligned with Engineering’s intent and supplier capabilities. The Supplier Manager is also responsible for developing buildout execution plans, including forecasting for short run bridges or lifetime demand.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• 2 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, or related ((any internship or co-op experience will not be considered).

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• Bachelors Degree.
• Knowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process and basic understanding of Global Manufacturing Systems Principles.
• Knowledge of aftersales Warehousing and Distribution.
• Capability Constrained Investigations.
• 5-why root cause investigations.
• Value stream manufacturing process flow to improve aftersales availability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
