Job description

The Role

The Supplier Digital Quality Engineer helps move supplier quality from point-in-time launch readiness to continuous, data-driven process visibility, risk detection and close loop action. This role works with suppliers and cross-functional teams to onboard digital quality data, connect engineering and quality records, and turn supplier signals into earlier action throughout product development, launch, and production.

What You'll Do
  • Lead supplier onboarding and readiness for Supplier Digital Quality (SDQ), including Advanced Product Quality Planning
  • Drive connection of released part prints, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), Control Plans, dimensional results, and digital measurements using consistent feature numbering and revision traceability.
  • Enable digital capture of Key Characteristic Designation System (KCDS) measurements and required Control Plan checks, and establish approved supplier-to-General Motors submission methods such as Sterling Mailbox, or application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Validate data completeness, accuracy, timeliness, schema conformance, and traceability; identify and resolve supplier data-quality, formatting, ingestion, and latency issues.
  • Own supplier data pipelines through onboarding, validation, issue resolution, production monitoring, and sustainment to maintain a trusted SDQ data baseline.
  • Support dashboards, process analytics, and risk based alarm management that help Supplier Quality Engineers distinguish data quality issues from meaningful process/product risk and drive appropriate containment, corrective action, and closure.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, Supplier Quality Engineers, Product Engineering, Data Engineering, SDQ Operations, purchasing and supply chain, and plant teams across APQP, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Run at Rate, Start of Regular Production, and current production milestones.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred in engineering, computer science, data analytics, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years experience in quality engineering, or supplier quality, with exposure to manufacturing, process, industrial, or operational quality
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, dimensional results, 8D problem solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective action verification
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, revisions, connect part characteristics across quality documents, assess data traceability or schema conformance
  • Ability to analyze trends, process signals, distinguish data-quality issues from true product risk, or translate findings into practical supplier actions
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and project-management skills, including the ability to work effectively with suppliers and global cross-functional teams.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience implementing or supporting digital quality, manufacturing data, supplier data exchange, dashboards, or analytics solutions.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Power BI; familiarity with APIs, secure file transfer protocol (SFTP) or file-based exchanges, SQL, or similar data-integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) quality tools, supplier data governance, or production process monitoring.
  • Experience creating supplier training, standard work, playbooks, or readiness reviews that improve adoption and sustainment.
