Estimated annual base pay: $102,800(minimum) - $128,500(midpoint) - $154,200(maximum)

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will identify and assess new suppliers to support Woodward commodity strategy. Train and develop Suppliers to meet Woodward expectations/requirements. Provide technical and quality direction to the supply base in direct support of the production and contractual requirements of the organization. Manage supplier APQP activities for New Product Launch or Part Transition Projects in compliance with Woodward APQP procedures.

What you will be doing...

Supplier Assessment:Leads the evaluation process to determine if potential suppliers meet technical and quality standards required by Woodward.

Supplier Capability Improvement:Identifies and addresses supplier capability, capacity, and system gaps, maintaining the supplier sourcing matrix.

Onboarding Suppliers:Ensures suppliers understand quality and product requirements by reviewing drawings, specifications, and onboarding activities.

Supplier Development:Manages projects to implement development plans with key suppliers to align with commodity strategies.

Performance Improvement:Drives supplier performance improvement programs to enhance quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost (QDRC).

Escalation Point:Acts as the quality systems and supplier development contact within commodity teams.

Project Management:Leads multiple supplier-related projects across various functions.

Cost Reduction:Supports Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives for cost reduction activities.

APQP Compliance:Ensures supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes meet requirements and verifies activities at supplier facilities.

Supplier Training:Trains suppliers in various tools and methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, SPC, and other quality systems.

Sourcing Procedures:Maintains internal procedures related to sourcing processes and supports production readiness for new product launches or legacy transitions.

Technology Awareness:Stays informed about emerging technologies and supports supplier negotiations using SCM expertise.

What we are looking for...

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent (5-7 years of quality, manufacturing, or process control experience), with 5+ years of quality engineering experience.

Green Belt required within 180 days of start, Black Belt preferred.

Expertise in Root Cause Analysis, Lean Manufacturing concepts, APQP, and PPAP elements (e.g., PRR, MSA, FMEA, Capability Studies).

Solid understanding of AS9100, ISO-9000/2000, QS-9000, and TS-16949 standards, with preferred Lead Auditor certification or demonstrated experience in supplier quality audits.
