Job Summary

The Supplier Development Engineer is a hands-on position focused on the ABS supplier selection, evaluation, and management of components development. Our SDE is responsible for ensuring the Supplier Development Management System is developed to supply ABS with high-quality components. This role involves verifying supply chain companies, developing new supply sources, and resolving non-conformances through root-cause analysis and collaboration with suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Interface with component teams to prioritize supplier development needs.
  • Drive supplier selection through qualification processes.
  • Assess supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, and delivery requirements, ensuring compliance with standards like TS 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Implement improvements using Lean methodologies and supplier audits.
  • Track and support supplier performance indicators and scorecards.
  • Coach and collaborate with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Lead investigations and resolve major supplier issues, including APQP and PPAP processes.
  • Support new product launches and define process parameters with engineering teams.
  • Conduct benchmarking, root cause analysis, and supplier audits.
  • Maintain supplier database and performance evaluations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality and development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, maintaining reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years managing a certified quality management system (e.g., TS 16949, ISO).
  • At least 4 years of experience in quality improvement within manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Experience in automotive, battery, electronics, or powertrain manufacturing.
  • Experience with large OEM suppliers, customer quality assurance, and audits.
