The Supplier Development Engineer will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sourcing on all activity required to effectively manage supplier quality requirements & supplier development. Primary areas of focus will be supplier auditing, qualification, continuous improvement, and defect resolution. The SDE has primary ownership and responsibility for supplier quality throughout Swagelok operations for assigned commodities.
Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, technical or quality-related field required; advanced problem-solving training preferred (SPC/statistical analysis; DOE). Maintains on-going education in related areas.
Experience: 2+ years experience (5+ years preferred) in manufacturing process design and development, quality planning or engineering, and/or quality control supervision. ASQ-CQE preferred. 6-12 months ISO/QS9000 implementation and/or auditing, or ASQ-CQA preferred; advanced problem-solving experience preferred (DOE, statistical analysis).
Skills/Knowledge: Strong computer skills, including basic Word, PowerPoint and Project, and intermediate-level Excel; advanced statistical data analysis skills; working knowledge of statistical software such as NCSS, Statistica or Minitab; strong knowledge of metrology and general mechanical inspection methods and procedures; familiarity with Total Quality and Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred.
