Job Summary: As a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service
  • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
  • Ask questions and listen to customers' needs.
  • Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, and mobile offers.
  • Provide premier customer service.
  • Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.

  • Maintain store appearance.

  • Cross-sell products and know the layout of the store.
  • Make suggestions to customers on the latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs.
  • Learn product features, keeping up with the latest trends and leveraging company tools and technology to confidently provide the customer with product knowledge and specs.
  • Use a Point-of-Sales system, processing cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling.
  • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • Inventory
  • Be the keeper of merchandise; complete all inventory processes and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
  • Responsible for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
  • Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects and managing merchandise and inventory.
  • Dependability
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule; accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
  • Supervisory Requirements
  • Provide effective leadership; demonstrate the ability to direct, train, and motivate associates; set a positive example.
  • Provide coaching and feedback timely and professionally.
  • Provide direction, work assignments, and training to sales associates; provide input to the Department Manager on associate performance.
  • May open/close locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Product Knowledge: Moderate level of knowledge of products and merchandise.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents; ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions; ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers; ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WORK ENVIRONMENT This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location.

OTHER SKILLS Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.

WORK HOURS Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE 1 year of responsible experience in clerical, office, or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.

AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 1 year of progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE Study completed in a college, university, or junior college above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of one-half academic year of study for 6 months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience. Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess or have potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision.
