Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex comprised of 21 museums and the National Zoo. This vacancy is in the Registration, Collections Management Services, Museum Collections and Operations, National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), under the Under Secretary for Museums and Culture.

The role focuses on accountability of the collections, acquisitions, cataloguing, and loan management, with staff supervision responsibilities.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as bearing responsibility for the accountability of the collections,managing collections acquisitions and cataloguing, arranging for incoming and outgoing collections loans, and managing staff in the Office of the Registrar in a medium-to-large museum (i.e., setting priorities, assigning work, holding team meetings, and delegating authority to subordinate staff and monitoringperformance).
