Duties

  • Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities such as, but not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips.
  • Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment. Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses.
  • Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas. Prepares standard operating procedures. May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5-year plan.
  • Transports large groups of people on trips to locations within the local community as well as outside the geographic area. Assists with loading and unloading of passengers. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity.
  • Drives in a variety of driving situations such as public roads, narrow country roads in all types of traffic. Ensures the safe travel of passengers. Performs the full range of personnel management responsibilities for subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Required to obtain within 90 days of hire or possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Shifts may include working, morning, nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in, OR a combination of experience and education which provides the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups; OR Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

Highly Preferred: Experience operating a multi-passenger vehicle.
