This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Station Great Lakes, Chicago, IL. Incumbent serves as the Program Manager of the Branch and assists with the oversight of the following programs at the installation: Fitness.
Duties
Responsibilities include managing fitness, aquatics, and sports programs, ensuring compliance with policies, and coordinating community resources.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire: Blood-borne Pathogen Certificate and Navy Basic Fitness Certification (if working in fitness facility).
- May work with hazardous materials (e.g., cleaning agents, gas, etc.).
- Subject to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Occasional travel of less than 10% may be required.
- Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable ID to access CNRMA Installations.

A qualified candidate must possess:
- Knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques of recreation to carry out fitness, aquatics, and sports programs tailored to community needs.
- Knowledge of DoD, DON, and CNIC policies and procedures regarding recreational certifications.
- Knowledge of NAF and APF funding, government procurement, cash handling, and fiscal management.
- Knowledge of specialty equipment, resale, and fixed assets to ensure quality program materials.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology related to exercise and fitness.

- Knowledge of military physical fitness standards and testing procedures.
- Knowledge of principles of physical fitness including exercise science, strength conditioning, nutrition, weight management, cardiovascular endurance, and exercise programming.
- Knowledge of biomechanics, fitness testing, and proper use of training and testing equipment.
- Skill in planning and executing comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and sports programs.
- Skill in organizing and utilizing community resources effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant operating systems.
- Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Ability to perform supervisory duties and develop training sessions.
- Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
