Job summary

Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) at JEB Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, VA seeks a Program Manager for the NAF Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch, overseeing aquatics programs and related activities.

The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of DoD/DON/CNIC policies, NAF and APF funding, and staff supervision, with strong communication and instructional skills. Experience with lifeguard operations and pool chemistry is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge that enables the employee to competently and independently carry out fitness, aquatics, and/or sports programs through the proper application of principles, concepts and techniques of recreation to specific needs of the community to be served.
• Knowledge of DoD, DON and CNIC policies and procedures governing recreational activity certifications.
• Knowledge of both NAF and APF funding, government procurement procedures, cash handling procedures, fiscal, personnel, material and cash management.
• Knowledge of various specialty equipment, both resale and fixed assets to ensure quality material exists to enhance programs.
• Knowledge of lifeguard roles during coordinated rescue scenes for safety of rescuers and victims.
• Knowledge of beach environment for waterfront lifeguard positions (Aquatics Program Manager Only).
• Knowledge of pool chemical testing and adjusting chemical imbalances and documenting results (Aquatics Program Manager Only).
• Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and/or sports program that meets community needs.

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); JEB Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, VA. • (Aquatics Program Manager Only) Knowledge of and ability to conduct pool chemical testing and adjust chemical imbalances and document the results.
• (Aquatics Program Manager Only) Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and/or sports program that includes a variety of fitness and/or aquatics activities and/or individual and team sports which meets the needs of the participating community.
• Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing available community resources.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other operating systems used in the program area.
• Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the Branch.
