U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Washington, DC seeks a GS-14 level supervisor to oversee the Overseas Support Branch, preparing CBP personnel for international deployments and ensuring safety abroad.

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Operations Support, Mission Support Directorate, International Support Division, Overseas Support Branch located in Washington DC. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Typical duties include: Providing supervision and direction to the Overseas Support Branch (OSB) operations responsible for preparing CBP employees for international deployments, providing assistance to employees and their families while in foreign duty locations, and guiding them through the reintegration process during their return to the United States at the end of their tour; ensuring completion of mandatory requirements for pre-deployments, monitoring the health and safety of CBP employees overseas, resolving administrative issues that are unique to foreign assignments; and preparing and/or executing evacuations as necessary. Managing the relocation of personnel by tracking and monitoring the budget, closely coordinating with the relocation company, finance and operation divisions, and the employee, as well as managing travel noncompliance reports in conjunction with the Business Operations Office. Coordinating with internal offices, intra-and interagency partners including Department of Homeland Security and Department of State, external stakeholders, and foreign partners to resolve issues, support employee overseas processing, facilitating information sharing, and advancing program objectives; providing oversight of the National Security Decision Directive (NSDD)-38 and Domestic Employees Teleworking Overseas (DETO) programs and staffing of Foreign Service Nationals and Locally Employed Staff. Reviewing and analyzing new and developing policies on international administrative issues that may impact foreign assignments; preparing recurring, and ad-hoc reports and briefing materials; regularly reviewing reports for accuracy; responding timely to taskers and requests for information and holding team accountable for timely, accurate, and consistent reporting of information. Planning, assigning, and reviewing work performed by subordinate staff; establish priorities; monitoring workload and ensuring timely completion of program activities; providing direct ongoing employee feedback and support; providing technical guidance; rewarding high performing employees and addressing poor performance.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Leading or supervising a team by planning, assigning, and reviewing work; setting priorities; monitoring workload; providing guidance and feedback; and ensuring timely, accurate completion of program activities. Managing, monitoring, or tracking program resources, budgets, relocations, administrative actions, or related operational requirements; reviewing reports or submissions for accuracy, completeness, or compliance; and coordinating with other offices to support efficient processes. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex or unusual program issues using sound judgment, discretion, adaptability, and effective decision-making in high-pressure environments. Coordinating with internal and external partners, stakeholders, or leadership officials to build effective working relationships, resolve issues, support program operations, and advance organizational goals.
