ATF in Wichita, KS is seeking a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist to lead a team within the Office of Intelligence Operations, Firearms Operations Division, Crime Gun Intelligence Center of Excellence in Wichita.

The role focuses on directing strategic intelligence efforts, guiding management with expert analysis, and coordinating cross-agency projects with federal, state, local, and international partners to fulfill mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience at GS-13 level for at least one year by the closing date of the announcement.
  • Experience in criminal investigations using NIBIN leads and Crime Gun Intelligence data.
  • Collaborating with CGICs and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Presentations to managers and executives on intelligence topics and issues.
  • Analyzing and evaluating programs or projects to improve operations.

This position is located in the Office of Intelligence Operations, Firearms Operations Division, Crime Gun Intelligence Center of Excellence Branch located in Wichita, KS.

Duties

Help

The major duties of the Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Exercises full supervisory responsibilities and authority over non-supervisory intelligence personnel.
  • Serves as an authority on strategic intelligence issues, providing expert advice to Bureau management and high-ranking officials regarding intelligence issues and statistical matters within program areas.
  • Plans and oversees intelligence projects, predictive analysis projects and initiatives that concern programs and associates activities in other Federal, State, local and international law enforcement and regulatory agencies and organizations.
  • Develops overall program and/or project objectives, goals, resource requirements, and milestones for all intelligence aspects of the branches programs.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or National
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
  • You must be a current permanent Department of Justice, ATF employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
  • May be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
MOBILITY PLAN

New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. The purpose of ATF's mobility policy is to enhance career development and progression, and achieve mission and business effectiveness. To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau. Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Specialized Experience Must Include All Of
  • Providing support to criminal investigations using NIBIN leads and other Crime Gun Intelligence data; AND
  • Collaborating with CGICs and other law enforcement agencies; AND
  • Conducting presentations to managers and executives on intelligence topics and issues; AND
  • Analyzing and evaluating programs or projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
Quality Ranking Factor
  • Familiarity with the NIBIN Enforcement Support System (NESS) is preferred.

A one-year probationary period is required for new supervisor and managers.
