Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet is seeking an experienced engineer to lead planning and coordination for complex ship or submarine projects in the Bremerton area. You will guide engineering tasks, oversee shipyard activities, and report progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience in planning and coordinating ship or submarine maintenance, repair, modernization or overhaul projects.
  • Possess FE, EI/EIT, or PE registration or be eligible for licensure; or have substantial engineering coursework and professional experience.
  • Eligible for security clearance and ability to travel as required.

Duties
  • You will serve as the primary representative of the Engineering and Planning Department and will be responsible for guiding, coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the engineering and planning efforts for assigned projects.
  • You will coordinate Shipyard efforts associated with pre-overhaul tests, inspections, and ship-checks.
  • You will resolve issues or conflicts occurring during development of the work package, such as overlapping functions.
  • You will supervise assigned personnel assuring production and accuracy requirements are met.
  • You will work with assigned Project Management personnel to develop a Plan of Action and Milestones to guide Engineering and Planning Department efforts for successful project completion.
  • You will represent the Project Engineering Manager and the Integrated Planning Manager as necessary at all project oriented meetings involving status, performance, or progress.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer planning and coordinating ship or submarine maintenance, repair, modernization or overhaul projects.

Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico The FE examination is not administered by the U. Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
