U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks a Facility Operations Specialist to lead and oversee a comprehensive facilities maintenance and safety program, providing technical guidance and oversight to all VS FiOps operations.

Relocation incentive may be authorized and candidates should be prepared to manage complex projects, inspections, and compliance across multiple worksites including office, laboratory, and field settings.

  • Acts as project manager on space and facility management projects.
  • Maintains facility plans, blueprints, and schematic drawings for VS facilities.
  • Performs evaluations, compliance surveys, and onsite inspections at VS sites.
  • Conducts regular inspections of buildings, utility systems, equipment, and grounds.
  • Plans and completes assignments involving technical facilities and maintenance problems.

Summary

As a Facility Operations Specialist, you will lead and be responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive Facilities maintenance, safety program, and provide technical guidance and oversight to all of VS FiOps. Relocation Incentive may be authorized

Major Duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as VS subject matter expert for facilities repairs and maintenance costs as both an advisor and liaison to the VS Leadership Team.
  • In collaboration with senior VS management, formulates and develops VS Facilities safety and maintenance policy consistent with prevailing Federal, Departmental, and Agency and OSHA requirements.
  • Responsible for the development of guidance materials and written procedures within VS for implementation of technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for a wide variety of operations.
  • Provides advice to top management personnel on the best courses of action after evaluating design options for new construction and renovation at service facilities.
  • Serves as project manager on complex projects pertaining to space and facility management for VS owned and leased space.
  • Maintains facility plans, blueprints, interpretation of schematic drawings and associated documents for use in the management of the VS facilities.
  • Performs comprehensive evaluations and compliance surveys and onsite inspections of various VS worksites, in office, laboratory, and field settings.
  • Responsible for conducting regular and recurring inspections of buildings, utility systems, equipment, and grounds for effective and economical operation.
  • Conducts and/or plans for the completion of assignments, which typically involve technical or complex facilities and maintenance problems.
