Job summary

The National Park Service seeks a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist to lead environmental protection efforts at Lake Mead National Recreation Area and related units. The role ensures compliance with NEPA, NHPA, and the Endangered Species Act, and oversees policy development and program administration.

You will prepare compliance documents (EIS/EA/CE/DNA), coordinate with park staff and the public, and manage the PEPC site and related documentation to support park actions.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist for Lake Mead National Recreation Area and subsidiary park units and establishes and fosters effective partnerships through the environmental planning and compliance process.
• Ensures appropriate application of the laws, regulations, and policies related to the protection and management of Tribal, natural, cultural, and Wilderness resources through the development of comprehensive environmental protection policies and programs including NEPA, NHPA, and the Endangered Species Act.
• Prepares a variety of written documents including compliance documents (EIS, EA, CE, DNA), minimum requirement analyses and proposals related to Wilderness and environmental protection program issues.
• Communicate with Park staff, management, and the public concerning a variety of environmental protection policies and processes.
• Ensures effective use of the National Park Service's Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) site. Ensures the PEPC site includes all documentation supporting the decision for each action carried out in the Park
