Summary
This Supervisory Dental Assistant position is located at the Lee County Healthcare System, Cape Coral, FL. The Supervisory Dental Assistant is responsible for supervising, managing, and directing dental assistants.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise dental staff and Fee Basis dental providers at GS-08 level or below, ensuring compliance with VA policies and performance measures.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate daily work and shift priorities.
• Evaluate employee performance, address workplace issues, and develop performance standards.
• Participate in hiring, training, and mentoring staff, including providing guidance on policies and procedures.
• Assist with equipment monitoring, maintenance, and procurement.
• Provide clinical assistance in various dental procedures, including oral surgery, periodontal therapy, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant services.
• Perform dental laboratory duties such as fabricating prosthetic devices and maintaining infection control standards.
• Support policy development, workload analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must meet education and experience requirements, including:

• Six months relevant experience or completion of an accredited 1-year dental assistant program
• Certification as a Dental Radiographer and DANB certification for supervisory roles

Grade Determination GS-08

Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of dental assisting, coordination skills, and supervisory capabilities.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 3 years as a Dental Assistant Supervisor, with experience in chairside assisting, workflow management, staff scheduling, SOP creation, and employee discipline.

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, heavy carrying, good vision, and ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
