Job description

The Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Laboratory Manager) must spend at least a quarter of their time providing administrative and technical supervision, performing major duties that involve significant scope, complexity, difficulty, and variety.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements: To qualify for appointment, all applicants must possess:

• Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States
• Education: A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Certification: Meet one of the following options:
  • Generalist certification as an MLS by ASCP BOC or AMT.
  • Generalist certification as an MT by ASCP BOR or AMT.
  • Categorical or Specialist certification by ASCP or AMT.
• Foreign Education: Education outside the U.S. must be deemed equivalent to U.S. standards by an acceptable evaluation agency or accompanied by a letter from ASCP BOC or AMT indicating eligibility for certification examination.

Grade Determinations: Candidates must meet the following for GS-13:

• One (1) year of creditable experience at GS-12 level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, problem-solving skills, management skills, and ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred Experience: Generalist
