Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a capable supervisor to lead the whey department, coaching hourly staff to meet performance targets and ensuring safe, efficient operations. You will plan daily whey plant activities, optimize use of personnel and equipment, and drive quality, waste reduction, and cost controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Dairy Science or Business Management required and a minimum of three years’ experience in food manufacturing environment.
  • Whey production experience is preferred.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); AS400 experience desired.

  • Supervises and coaches whey department employees to meet performance objectives by providing effective and strong leadership.
  • Plans and schedules daily operations of the whey plant to maximize efficient use of personnel and equipment.
  • Verifies that all products meet specifications and quality standards before shipment to the customer.
  • Recommends changes to manufacturing procedures to maintain product specifications and reduce operating costs.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
  • Supervises and coaches whey department employees to meet performance objectives by providing effective and strong leadership.
  • Plans and schedules daily operations of the whey plant to maximize the efficient and effective use of personnel and equipment in producing the desired quality and quantity of products.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with all plant employees.
  • Recommends changes to manufacturing procedures when necessary to maintain product specifications, minimize waste, improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
  • Responsible for training of hourly employees in equipment operation, manufacturing procedures, shipping and receiving, sanitation, product loss prevention, food safety and personal safety habits and procedures.
  • Verifies that all products meet specifications and quality standards before shipment to the customer.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You….
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Dairy Science, Food Science or Business Management required and a minimum of three years’ experience in food manufacturing environment or a combination of education, training and work experience. Whey production experience is preferred.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); AS400 experience desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, lead and build relationships at all levels within the Company. Ability to work in a team-environment as well as independently with good time management, planning, prioritization, follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, perform root cause analysis and make timely, informed decisions. Demonstrated ability effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Self-motivated, accurate self-insight, builds organizational talent by teaching and coaching, customer/quality oriented, maintains a positive view point and is persuasive.

Salary Range $73,815-$110,725
