Metra is seeking a supervisor for the Mechanical department to oversee labor databases, postings, and apprentice programs. This role coordinates with the Chief Mechanical Officer to ensure compliant staffing and timely promotions.
You will manage training, track hours for veterans, and liaise with labor agreements to administer the apprentice program and hiring processes, while ensuring safety and accuracy across personnel records.
$73,623.00 – $110,436.00
The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.

Mechanical coordinates and oversees the repair, inspection, cleaning, rebuilding, replacing and maintenance of 1,180 pieces of rolling stock used in commuter service. The department's goal is to provide safe, clean and reliable service while maintaining the fleet to the standards of the Federal Railroad Administration, Association of American Railroads, American Public Transit Association and the original equipment manufacturers.
Reporting directly to the Chief Mechanical Officer, the position will be responsible for supervising the maintenance and administration of all departmental labor force databases including: job postings, awards, bumps, abolishments, seniority, discipline, and work histories for use in employee transfers, bumping, and promotions, in accordance with applicable labor agreements. The position will also coordinate and administer the Mechanical ApprenticeProgram.
