Job summary

Entergy is seeking a seasoned Transmission Line Design Supervisor in Louisiana to lead an engineering team responsible for design, estimates, and project documentation. You will oversee staff, contractors, and budgets while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

The role involves coordinating with Grid, Distribution, and Project Development, and driving design standards across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of transmission line design practices, standards, procedures and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of design, planning, project management, operations and/or construction.
  • Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of moving frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to an engineering staff of transmission line designers, including coaching and training.
  • Evaluate resource levels for current and future workloads; assign staff and manage consultants.
  • Participate on cross-functional jurisdictional team to enhance coordination.
  • Serve as primary contact for Grid, Distribution and Project Development for design evaluations and estimates.
  • Develop, maintain and implement transmission line design standards.
  • Respond to transmission line regulatory and compliance issues.

Job description

  • While New Orleans, LA is the preferred location, the hiring team is open to considering candidates based in other areas within Entergy's service territory, including Baton Rouge, Jackson, Little Rock, and The Woodlands.
Job Summary/Purpose

Provides leadership for the engineering design activities for projects within Transmission Line Design. The position supervises employees who prepare the estimates, project scopes, technical drawings, construction specifications, material specifications and requisitions and complete as-built documentation. The supervisor ensures that projects achieve stated objectives, are implemented in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards, meet established schedules and are completed within approved authorizations and budgets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provides direct supervision to an engineering staff of transmission line designers, including coaching, training, effective resource management, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
  • Evaluates the resource levels required for current and future workloads; Assigns company and contractor staff to accomplish effectively; Manages consultants, which includes scope preparation, bid evaluation, cost tracking, invoice approval and processing, and release order preparation.
  • Actively participates on a jurisdictional team of supervisors with other functional area supervisors to enhance communication and coordination within the project organization.
  • Serves as the primary contact for the Grids, Distribution and Project Development for design evaluations, proposals and estimates for studies, customer requests, maintenance and potential projects.
  • Develops, maintains and implements transmission line design standards.
  • Responds to transmission line related regulatory and compliance issues.
Minimum education required of the position
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
