Job summary

Brightline Trains in Orlando seeks a Train Readiness Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and supervise daily train readiness maintenance activities with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance and efficiency.

You will lead safety trainings, coordinate projects, perform inspections, manage work orders with Siemens QA, and produce daily reports. The role requires team leadership and quick decision-making under pressure, with shift flexibility, including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, business administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of proven professional experience in vehicle or similar maintenance operations, preferably in railroad, manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • Certifications or licenses in related disciplines are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Training and Compliance: Ensure teammates are properly trained in safety rules, regulations, and their daily duties.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with management to discuss work projects and establish priorities.
  • Quality Control and Inspections: Observe and inspect teammates to ensure maintenance tasks meet Brightline standards.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure timely departure of all morning trains; review equipment data to identify faults or delays.
  • Work Order Management: Submit work orders for review; document defects and coordinate with contractors.
  • Defect Resolution and Final Inspections: Perform final inspections and address hazardous conditions.
  • Emergency Assistance: Provide support in emergencies for teammates and guests.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Create and distribute daily detailed reports for transparency.
  • Team Leadership: Evaluate work and guide subordinates; solve complex problems.
  • Communication: Monitor Brightline communications channels to ensure timely reviews.

Your Purpose

As a Train Readiness Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of train readiness maintenance activities. Your responsibilities will encompass planning, coordinating, and supervising daily operations, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Salary range - $68,000- $72,000 a year

Your Role [Essential Functions]
  • Safety Training and Compliance: Ensure teammates are properly trained in safety rules, regulations, and their daily duties. Conduct daily safety briefings and train staff in safe and proper methods of carrying out assigned tasks.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with management to discuss work projects and establish priorities. Prepare work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Quality Control and Inspections: Observe and inspect teammates to ensure cleaning and maintenance tasks meet Brightline standards. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with standard maintenance procedures.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure the timely departure of all morning trains from Basecamp/VMF. Review equipment download data to investigate faults or delays and disseminate findings.
  • Work Order Management: Work with Siemens QA Manager/Supervision to submit work orders for review and compliance tracking. Document reported defects, prioritize work, and collaborate with contractors to resolve issues.
  • Defect Resolution and Final Inspections: Perform final inspections to ensure all defects have been addressed and resolved. Address any unusual or hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Emergency Assistance: Provide support in emergency situations for teammates and guests, ensuring swift and effective responses.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Review, analyze, and interpret data to create detailed reports. Create and distribute daily detailed reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Team Leadership: Evaluate and review the work of subordinates, solving complex problems encountered by the team.
  • Communication: Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including the company intranet and bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.
Managerial Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide training or work direction to other teammates and/or contractors within the organization in the management and execution of their areas of responsibility.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, business administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of proven professional experience in vehicle or similar maintenance operations, preferably in railroad, manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • Possession of relevant certifications or licenses in related disciplines, highlighting a commitment to ongoing professional development and mastery in the field highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure timely completion.
  • Strong understanding of train systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations. Familiar with FRA 229 and 238 regulations preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to address maintenance issues and emergencies.
  • Ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure all maintenance tasks are performed to high standards and comply with regulations.
  • Effective communicator adept at establishing rapport across all organizational levels, fostering productive relationships crucial for operational success.
  • Ability to understand and apply developments in public transportation and ensure that all safety, recruitment, training programs and/or resources are effectively utilized.
  • Ability to lead, train, and supervise a team effectively.
  • Operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools, vehicles, and power equipment.
  • Basic mathematics.
  • Work safely and effectively under pressure, including during emergency situations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, which may include working in various weather conditions and performing manual tasks. Must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary.
Work Environment

Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the plant. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The position is very active and the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. No specific vision requirements. Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
