Role Overview

The Tooling Supervisor provides leadership and technical guidance for the development and lifecycle management of production tooling systems, ensuring innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity in aerospace manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Tooling Engineers, Toolmakers, and Metrology Specialists to develop practical tooling solutions.
• Oversee tooling design reviews, supplier compliance, and project management from concept through production release.
• Develop and improve tooling policies, procedures, and standards; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage procurement, budgets, configuration control, and records for tooling lifecycle.
• Lead root cause analyses and corrective actions for tooling and quality issues.
• Support talent development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent experience with 8+ years in manufacturing or tooling roles.
• Minimum 5 years in aerospace tooling design or aircraft component fabrication.
• Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5/V6), interpreting engineering drawings, and applying GD&T principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of metrology, tooling validation, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and supplier management.

Key Performance Indicators

On-time tooling delivery, budget adherence, tooling availability, and quality defect reduction.

Decision-Making Authority

Approves tooling requests, influences design decisions for safety and usability, and determines fabrication sources based on capabilities and schedules.

Working Conditions

Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and aircraft odors; requires physical activity such as lifting up to 50 lbs, and adherence to safety regulations.
