Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Supervisor of Study Services to lead in vivo oncology studies in mice and guide the Study Services Team. You will interface with cross-functional groups to ensure study alignment and timely execution.

Responsibilities include hiring and mentoring technicians, coordinating with management and Project Leadership, reviewing protocols, assigning responsibilities, and improving procedures. Weekend and holiday rotations apply.

Qualifications

• Experience with preclinical in vivo pharmacology/oncology studies in mice.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team with strong accountability and integrity.
• Knowledge of AAALAC guidelines and regulatory standards is preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Objectives:

• Support in vivo oncology studies in mice as a Supervisor of Study Services.
• Directly manage staff and provide leadership to the Study Services Team; interface with cross-company teams.

Responsibilities:

• Hire and manage small teams of technicians, apprentices, and assistants, including competency assessments and skill development plans.
• Coordinate with cross-functional groups, management, and Project Leadership.
• Review draft and final protocols; extract relevant information and assign responsibilities for study initiation and cross-company coordination.
• Evaluate, train, and mentor staff; review daily task completion and monthly metrics.
• Lead weekly and daily meetings to ensure timely task completion.
• Improve procedures/processes; investigate deviations and near-misses.
• Create, review, and edit SOPs and processes.
• May act as lead technician on studies.
• Perform in-life technical procedures, therapeutic agent administration, and animal care.
• Conduct animal welfare assessments (body weight, tumor volume).
• Provide perioperative animal care (analgesia and anesthesia administration).
• Record data using laboratory information management systems.
• Work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:

• Experience with preclinical in vivo pharmacology/oncology studies in mice; technical in vivo and data analysis skills.
• Team-oriented with strong accountability, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Creative problem-solving and sound judgment.
• Strong planning, organizational, computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of animal welfare and clinical testing regulations/standards (e.g., AAALAC, CLIA); observe safety and security procedures.

Education/Experience:

• BS/MS in biology, pharmacology, or related field, or 5+ years related experience.
• 1+ year supervisory/management experience.
• Contract research animal facility/industry experience preferred.
• AALAS certification preferred (LAT or LATG).
