Qualifications

  • Licensure in Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience is mandatory.

Job description

We Are Hiring

  • Department: Sterile Processing
  • Schedule: Rotating based on need: Sunday-Wednesday 0400-330, Sunday-Wednesday 1200-2230, M-F 2200-0630
  • Hospital: Seton Main, 38th St
  • Location: Austin, TX
What You Will Do

Inspect, assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validate completeness of set, and facilitate effective sterilization.

  • Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Additional Preferences

Help oversee and manage the daily operations of the department on designated shift. Help ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sterility. This includes supervising staff, managing inventory, and ensuring proper cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies.

Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, the ability to follow strict sterilization procedures, knowledge of various sterilization methods, and the capability to inspect and properly clean medical instruments and equipment to ensure patient safety; must know how to assemble and package sterile supplies, tracking inventory, recording sterilization test results, and maintaining a clean and sterile work environment.
