Job summary

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking a Software Engineering Supervisor to lead a software delivery team and ensure successful product delivery. You will coach, mentor, and manage direct reports while aligning work with business goals.

You will collaborate with Solution Engineers, Project Engineering Supervisors, Prod Ops, IT, and Quality teams to deliver innovative technology solutions and drive continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in a related field.
  • Experience managing project initiatives across multiple IT and business organizations
  • Experience with various development methodologies/technologies

Responsibilities

  • Grows and develops team members, conducts regular 1-on-1s and provides coaching.
  • Manages talent for direct reports, including compensation, performance, and promotions.
  • Escalates and removes impediments to maximize team effectiveness.

A Brief Overview
The Software Engineering Supervisor provides first‑level leadership support to a software engineering delivery team. With a focus on delivery assurance, they act as a player/coach/leader. Accountable for product delivery and responsible for coaching, mentoring, and managing a team of software engineers. Builds and extends relationships with peer leaders across functional spaces. Works closely with Solution Engineers, Project Engineering Supervisors, Prod Ops, IT, & Quality peers to grow/support product solutions. This role is an integrator of people/processes, a problem solver, a mentor to direct reports, and should have domain competency in information technology/software engineering principles.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and promotes WWT core values and best practices.
  • Grows and develops members of their team, understands their goals, and works with them to achieve. Holds regular and effective 1 on 1s, provides real‑time coaching and engage in difficult conversations as needed, recognizes, and rewards the right behaviors.
  • Manages talent for direct reports. Responsible for carrying out compensation, performance management & promotion responsibilities for direct reports
  • Proactively identifies and helps solves issues as part of the broader Leadership Team.
  • Creates and fosters an atmosphere of mentoring, quality, diversity, collaboration, and improvement by coaching team members and peers across the organization.
  • Escalates and removes impediments from the team to help them be as effective as possible.
  • Works with the team to provide innovative technology solutions to business challenges that align to strategy and technology standards.
  • Drives the on‑going development and the support of new and existing products.
  • Leads the designing of complex solutions, primarily within the product domain, leveraging team members and architecture.
  • Provides functional and technical leadership while promoting best practices and direction to team members.
  • Holds the team accountable for meeting commitments while adhering to the organization's quality, methodology, and architecture standards.
  • Determines and acts upon staffing needs of the team (FTEs, system integrators, staff augmentation), in collaboration with manager
  • Incorporates business feedback into planning and drives towards increased predictability of delivery.
  • Prepares and delivers informal and formal presentations to own team, department, and partners.
  • Inspires lasting relationships with Team Members, Leaders, Partners, and Customers; building trust through proven results and added value.
  • Serves as a resource for employees and customers to ensure problems are heard and resolved.
  • Hires the best candidates (internal or external) to diversify the team.
  • Builds shared purpose and targeted goals.
  • Faces challenges head‑on, providing empathy and understanding to employees who may be struggling.
  • Acts decisively to correct behavior and celebrates team members’ success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience managing project initiatives across multiple IT and business organizations
  • Experience with various development methodologies/technologies

Some customers have specific onboarding requirements, including background check and drug testing requirements that go beyond WWT’s requirements. Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $107,600 to $135,000 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.
