Job summary

thyssenkrupp Elevator in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced Supervisor Software Engineer to lead an international, cross-functional team of requirements engineers, software developers, and testers to develop and maintain embedded software for elevator systems.

Responsibilities cover the full product lifecycle, on-time delivery, architecture alignment, and collaboration with engineering leadership to assess feasibility and risk of new features; travel up to 15% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in a technical product development position.
  • Two years of experience managing people or leading a project team.
  • Experience developing embedded software and C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Jira, FogBugz or equivalent bug-tracking systems.
  • Proficient with Git or Perforce source control.
  • Will travel up to 15% nationally/internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead international cross-functional team of requirements engineers, software developers, and software testers to develop and maintain embedded software for elevator systems.
  • Oversee all phases of the software product development lifecycle – requirements definition, implementation, testing, validation, and maintenance/field support.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, with full scope and no critical defects.
  • Prioritize team member tasks and assign tickets to the team. Review, prioritize, and assign tickets related to field support and bug resolution.
  • Work directly with the engineering manager, business leadership, chief engineers, software architects, and project management to assess feasibility, viability, and risks of proposed technical innovations or proposed product features in terms of functionality for new products and improving existing products.
  • Proactively work with other team leads and managers to ensure projects and products meet business needs, are delivered on time, within budget, and have no critical defects.
  • Work in an environment where tasks and priorities change regularly.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team.
  • Work with the software architect to ensure designs are well architected and any code changes maintain the architecture.
  • Provide regular updates to the engineering manager and project manager.
  • Ensure team members have a clear understanding of overall project strategy, key business drivers, and project priorities.
  • Ensure design standards and all applicable elements of development processes are applied. Develop and maintain source code.
  • Support the engineering manager in delivery of the engineering budget and reporting against established KPI’s.
  • Support engineering manager in the monitoring of staff performance, the creation of individual development plans, conducting regular performance reviews, and supporting career path development.

TK Elevator is currently seeking an experienced Supervisor Software Engineer in Atlanta, GA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field required.
  • Five years of experience required in a technical product development position.
  • Two years of experience required managing people, building cohesive teams, and/or acting as a project team lead.
  • Any experience required with: developing and maintaining embedded software systems; coding in C/C++ for embedded systems; defining and working within embedded software development processes; working with embedded systems over the full product life cycle (development, manufacturing/sustainment, end-of-life); source control management systems (i.e., Git, Perforce)
  • Software ticketing and bug tracking systems (i.e., Jira, FogBugz); and with presenting data and product recommendations to engineering and marketing/sales management.
  • Up to 15% national and international travel required.
