Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Supervisor Smelter Operations - U-Crew to lead a work unit at the Claypool, AZ smelter. You will coordinate daily operations, ensure safety, and optimize production within a 24/7 facility, reporting to site leadership.

Qualified candidates bring supervisory experience and either a high school diploma with relevant ops background or a mining-related bachelor’s degree with internship exposure. The role offers competitive pay and benefits, with on-site work in Arizona.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5 years related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining-related discipline with at least one summer internship experience (or equivalent) in a mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the safe, efficient operation of an assigned work unit by assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of staff.
• Implement production plans according to the approved schedule and participate in the full range of daily operational duties.
• Conduct performance evaluations for subordinate staff and prepare estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected activities.
• Maintain inventories of parts and materials, approve purchases, and maintain time, material, and equipment use reports.

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, you coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit by assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of staff. You implement production plans according to the approved schedule. You may participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult tasks, while inspecting and evaluating work in progress, identifying problem areas, and directing remedial action as needed. As a Supervisor Smelter Operations, you conduct performance evaluations for subordinate staff, prepare estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected work activities, and maintain inventories of parts and materials, approve purchases, and maintain time, material, and equipment use reports while requisitioning tools and supplies. You train staff in safety procedures and maintain safety data sheets for crews and perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED, and five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience

OR

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining-related discipline with at least one summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in a mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$85,000-$116,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
