Job description

Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises the mechanical, controls, and animation maintenance activities in area of responsibility. Contributes to routine, capital, and expense budgeting and sets direction and priorities of all maintenance functions for the area of responsibility. Manages and leads technical staff to include continuous improvement, personal development, and administration in area of responsibility. Manages the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities within area of responsibility. Facilitates the hiring, training, and scheduling of employees with respective work areas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Supervises all ride maintenance with hands-on involvement. Ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is maintained in like new condition. Responds to attraction interruptions and works to resolve such issues expediently. Interfaces with Operations counterparts to ensure quality and high customer service. Acts as building/area owner, reporting issues and maintaining downtime work activities.
  2. Oversees planning and scheduling. Manages preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, along with part procurement. Analyzes attraction performance and manages maintenance priorities.
  3. Leads training and development. Administers development plans, manages schedules and records, and ensures safety compliance. Upholds all Universal Orlando policies and prioritizes safety.
  4. Supports operational throughput. Executes maintenance plans to minimize downtime, maintains records, and coordinates with affected departments for optimal customer service.
  5. Ensures compliance with ASTM F-24 guidelines and manufacturer requirements.
  6. Focuses on fiscal responsibility. Controls budgets, monitors overtime, and contributes to budget planning including capital and expense plans.
  7. Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities. Follows policies, procedures, and training.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • Technical school preferred.
  • Associate’s degree (AA) in General Education or Technology preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 to 7 years in technical and trade experience required.
  • 1 to 3 years supervisory experience required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Manages all maintenance activities for rides, shows, and guest interactive areas within the specific area.
  • Handles routine, expense, and capital budgets.
  • Supervises all hourly personnel in the area.
  • Completes PQS for primary venues within 6 months.
  • Follows organizational policies and laws in supervisory responsibilities.
