Job summary

Movement is seeking a Retail Supervisor to oversee gear shop operations across our gyms. You will train front desk staff, ensure retail standards, verify shipments, restock, and manage inventory while delivering exceptional customer service, including shoe and harness fittings.

The role involves coordinating with gym leadership to meet revenue targets, manage special orders, and participate in monthly retail calls. A strong passion for climbing gear and the Movement community is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail or customer service preferred.
  • 3+ months of Front Desk experience with Movement or in the climbing industry preferred.
  • Passionate about climbing, yoga, and fitness within the Movement community.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Supervisor role manages the operations and oversight of the gear shop in each gym. Responsibilities include training and holding the front desk staff accountable for retail standards, verifying shipments, reporting discrepancies, restocking Redpoint, maintaining accurate inventory, and facilitating bi-annual full inventory counts. The Retail Supervisor maintains a clean and organized shop, replenishes products, manages signage, and provides exceptional customer service, including shoe and harness fittings. Additionally, this role involves managing special orders, product returns, participating in monthly regional retail calls, and communicating retail initiatives to gym staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train and hold front desk staff accountable to shop expectations, receiving, and customer service standards.
  • Support gym in meeting retail revenue targets and analyzing current business in partnership with gym leadership.
  • Customer Service Standards
    • Greet customers in gear shop
    • Provide shoe and harness fitting services to customers
  • Manage receiving in-gym shipments for Retail, Gym Operations, & Business Operations
    • Verify shipment contents & packing lists
    • Report shipment discrepancies
    • Restock Redpoint with accurate inventory once shipment arrives
    • Manage digital and physical packing lists
  • Inventory management and accuracy
    • Conduct spot counts quarterly
    • Monitor & update negative inventory weekly
    • Facilitate bi-annual inventory full counts
  • Maintain a clean, shoppable, and organized shop & backstock room
  • Replenish product from backstock frequently
  • Manage product and pricing signage
  • Manage Special Orders
  • Manage processes for returned products, product warranties and RTV
  • Participate in monthly regional retail calls and provide feedback to the retail team on current business performance and opportunities.
  • Communicate retail initiatives to gym staff, including sales, demos, pro-deals, new products, trainings, and other ad-hoc requests.
  • Order and communicate with local vendors for gym-specific offerings within shop

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Be passionate about climbing gear and self-motivated to acquire an in-depth knowledge of gear currently available
  • Maintain positive customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Maintain a strong record of follow-through and effective communication
  • Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel and Word, and comfortable with data analysis
  • Experience in retail or customer service field preferred
  • Experience with Redpoint or equivalent POS system preferred
  • 3+ months of Front Desk experience with Movement or in the climbing industry preferred
  • Passionate about climbing, yoga, and fitness within the Movement community

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a full-time position with 30-40 hours/week
  • Starting pay at $22.00-$24.00/hour, based on experience
