Job summary

Coral Gables Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Care Supervisor to oversee the Respiratory Care Department operations and deliver advanced respiratory care to patients of all ages. The role includes supervising staff, ensuring protocol adherence, and collaborating with the medical team to provide high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a Florida license (CRT/RRT/RCPCC), BLS certification, and a track record of clinical and supervisory experience in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors Degree Preferred.
• Five years experience in respiratory care in a hospital setting.
• Three years of critical care experience.
• One year supervisory experience preferred.
• Current state of Florida license as a CRT, RRT, or RCPCC is required.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for age specific needs of the population served as measured by completion of mandatory training.
• Provides adequate staffing with appropriately licensed personnel as outlined in the policy and procedure manual.
• Maintains effective communications among the healthcare team.
• Ensures staff education, implementation, and monitoring of protocols and policy compliance.
• Orients staff on employment and as needed to technical procedures, protocols, and policies.
• Reviews technical work performed and verifies that it meets standards for completeness and accuracy.
• Reviews work performed regularly to ensure that it is completed within acceptable timeframes as outlined in the policy and procedure manual.
• Other job duties as assigned and as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the smooth operational functions of the Respiratory Care Department. Delivers advanced professional and technical respiratory care to patients of all ages with real or potential life-threatening illnesses presenting to all units for care. Able to administer and monitor mechanical ventilation to all age groups. Able to draw and analyze arterial and capillary blood gas samples. Able to run quality controls on the blood gas analyzers. Collaborates with the medical staff and disciplines in order to facilitate patient care. Accountable for the effective and efficient functioning of the department during the assigned shift with minimal direction from the Director/Manager. Supervises and instructs Respiratory Therapists of the assigned shift. Ensures that the Respiratory Therapist comply with the objectives and policies of the hospital and that age/developmentally appropriately care is given in accordance with unit standards. Provides excellent customer service. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty as assigned by the Director/Manger. May be able to act as a designee for the Director/Manager.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

I. Education:

Associates or Bachelors Degree Preferred

II. Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years experience in a respiratory care in a hospital setting.

Three (3) years of critical care experience.

One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.

III. License/Certification:

Current state of Florida License as a CRT, RRT, or RCPCC is required.

Current BLS certifications from the American Heart Association
