Job summary

Mercy seeks a Supervisory Respiratory Care leader to oversee the night shift. You will supervise the respiratory care staff, ensure safe quality patient care, and collaborate with the healthcare team to support plan of care and Mercy standards.

The role emphasizes staff development, adherence to policies, and ongoing evaluation of operations, technology, and clinical interventions to maintain exceptional patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an Accredited College Program in Respiratory Care.
• Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in state of practice.
• Five or more years of experience.
• BLS certification (may obtain on hire); RRT with NBRC eligible; CRT alternative.
• Interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking, flexibility and adaptability.
• Ability to implement medical plan of care, clinical interventions and procedures.

Overview

Supervises the Respiratory staff to ensure respiratory care is delivered in a safe, quality approach following all policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. Develops staff and encourages staff adherence to hospital policy. Assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the operations, technique and technology to ensure appropriate respiratory care. Provides respiratory care services by direct patient care; monitoring patients conditions, working collaboratively with the healthcare team with open communication; serving as a clinical resource for coworkers, patients and visitors. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Graduate from an Accredited College Program in Respiratory Care.
• Licensure: Must have a current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of practice.
• Experience: Five or more years of experience.
• Certification/Registration: Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care; BLS (may obtain upon hire). May substitute RRT with 10 years of leadership experience and Certified as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the NBRC.
• Other Skills and Knowledge: Strength in interpersonal skills and conflict resolution. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, flexibility and adaptability. Must possess the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, clinical interventions and procedures as needed for the care of the patient.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field preferred.
• Experience: One year of leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Certification/Registration: ACLS, NRP, PALS (may obtain upon hire if needed); ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist from the NBRC); NPS (Neonatal Specialist from the NBRC).
• Other Skills and Knowledge: Computer literacy in Microsoft Office tools like Outlook, Word, and Excel.
