Summary
Provide leadership role in the Remote Operations Center. Responsible for the daily and real-time entry of day-ahead and real-time generating unit offers to ERCOT, PJM, SPP and CAISO as well as future market participates (MISO). The Remote Operations Center Supervisor coordinates generation outages and real-time commitments into appropriate database/reporting tool. Reports To Manager, Remote Operations Center.
Job duties include: maintaining daily logs of system events, providing immediate verbal notifications of unusual activities to the appropriate personnel, and preparing daily reports. Serves as the liaison to the NERC Compliance Team to ensure all applicable NERC GOP Requirements are met and all events are communicated effectively. Continuous updates and tracking of abnormal events such as generation outages, loss of communication, merchant/ancillary service offers and safety & environmental incidents. Assist as training, development and certification liaison for new real time operators. Administer interchange contractual obligations, evaluate the pricing of off-system sales and purchases, and may be responsible for granting major circuit and generation capacity outages. Perform a variety of administrative duties, as well as being responsible for EH&S and other relevant compliance requirements. Must maintain effective communication with wind and solar entities, maintain training requirement/records for Market participation (e.g. NERC, FERC, ERCOT, PJM, SPP and CAISO).
This is a physical position in Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities
Strong attention to detail with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions and work under pressure. Verify and submit meter data to an ISO (e.g. ERCOT, SPP, PJM and CAISO) the morning after the day of flow. Meter data comparison to the Day-Ahead (DA) schedule and the Real-Time (RT) award is determined.
Excellent verbal communication skills (listening and communicating clearly and accurately) with the ability to build rapport with market entities as well as internal customers.
Trained working knowledge of reporting obligations for QSE (Qualified Scheduling Entity) in the ERCOT market. Scheduling and settlement transactions as it pertains assets in their applicable markets (ERCOT, SPP, PJM, CAISO etc.)
Maintain detailed knowledge of generating unit operating characteristics at all times, including availability, de-rates, incremental costs, ancillary services etc. to effectively utilize units to fullest potential
Knowledge of plant operations, power system operations, power trading and risk management control
Proficiency and knowledge of power marketing tools; nMarket, ADAPT2, Genscape
Engage teammates in process of real-time operations and assure reporting proficiency
Assist teammates in the growth and development of skills and abilities which will enhance both their present job skills and their future value to The Company as a whole
Adopt a leadership role in developing needed tools and best practices for renewable operators
Conduct periodic review of tools and training adequacy
Update and modify procedures, processes and job aides as appropriate
Be familiar with all protocols relating to maintenance, scheduling, Emergency Action Plans, Business Continuity Plans and notifications
Assist outage scheduling team in providing a workable outage schedule which guarantees all issues are handled by procedures outlined in the Settlement Agreement or Agreement in Principal
Ensure all NERC related events are addressed in the timeframe allowed and report out to NERC Compliance Team
Basic Qualifications
Associates Degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience
High School/GED with 5 years of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications
Excellent verbal communication skills (listening and communicating clearly and accurately with the ability to build rapport across the organization as well as external markets, balancing authorities, and transmission operators.
1-5 years of experience as Remote Operations Center Dispatcher or equivalent work experience
Minimum level of power plant knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Continued training in the ERGOT and PJM Market via Learning Management System (LMS) as well as instructor led training
Demonstrated commitment to personal development and improvement
Training or experience specifically in renewable energy
Leadership skills that align with the Renewable Energy Business needs of the future
Interpersonal & Communication skills to address team coordination issues and streamline shift information and improve report accuracy
Knowledge of telemetry data communications. database applications. application programming techniques, and control systems.
Advanced computer skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Pl Application Suite, Market and off-taker scheduling software

Specific Requirements
Must obtain PJM Generator Operator Certification and maintain ongoing CEH and simulator training while in the role
