Overview

Responsible for the direct provision of patient care and for assisting the manager with daily operations, including coordination of patient care/outcomes, resource allocation, communication, patient throughput, program development, staff development, clinical supervision, performance appraisal, quality improvement activities, service recovery, and regulatory compliance. Maintains clinical and professional competency relevant to the patient population.

Essential Functions

• Supports the manager in enhancing nursing practice and service delivery
• Assists with interviewing, hiring, and supervising nursing staff
• Coordinates communication through staff meetings/huddles
• Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and policies
• Rounds on patients, staff, and physicians to assess satisfaction and care quality
• Delegates care appropriately
• Identifies expected outcomes and evaluates progress
• Performs nursing care, assists with treatments, and administers medications
• Manages patient flow and staffing based on assessment of needs

Physical Requirements

Work involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting (up to 35 pounds), reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must speak and understand English fluently. Must have good sight, hearing, smell, touch, finger dexterity, critical thinking, and concentration skills.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate from an accredited Nursing program. Current RN licensure. Minimum two years of nursing experience preferred. Management experience preferred. BSN required. If hired externally or promoted internally without a BSN, enrollment in a BSN program is required within 1 year, with completion within 3 years. BLS certification required. Professional certification within 1 year of eligibility may be required.
