Description

Supervises, oversees, organizes schedules and evaluates assigned subordinates in specific areas or shifts in Department of Radiology. These staff are engaged in performing radiology procedures. Performs duties of subordinates as necessary.


Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Professional position supervising a professional and technical staff at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, Department of Radiology.
  • Manages all technical and support activities of the Radiology Department which provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency radiological services.
  • Oversees and manages the overall operations of the department. Organizes, directs and controls the day to day activities of a large multi-faceted radiology department.
  • Responsible for clinical areas including diagnostic, special procedures, ultrasound, CT scans, Nuclear Medicine.
  • Prepares and maintains work schedules, adjusting schedule as necessary to work out difficulties caused by illness, vacations, emergence situations, backlog of patient examinations, etc.
  • Interviews and recommends hiring, discipline and when necessary, discharge of subordinates. Trains, reviews and evaluates work of subordinates.
  • Supervises radiology technicians, giving assistance when needed. Evaluates and reviews their work to ensure conformance to radiology procedures and safety requirements.
  • Participates in developing and administering department policies and procedures pertaining to work processes, rules, scheduling of subordinates and safety procedures.
  • Reviews employee time cards, calculating time worked and ensuring time off is appropriately recorded. May authorize overtime work for subordinates depending on assigned shifts.
  • Maintains adequate levels of approved supplies necessary to perform radiology procedures. Participates in evaluating quality and cost effectiveness of new or replacement supplies.
  • Ensures equipment in assigned areas is maintained in safe, operating condition, recommending when necessary repair of equipment. Performs quality control testing monthly in each radiographic room.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and patient care departments to gather and exchange information, resolve problems such as lost radiology film, and improve services provided.
  • Ensures optimum utilization of resources to meet objective costs effectively and efficiently to maximize patient care.
  • Analyzes and controls both statistical and fiscal management systems to meet departmental goals through budget development and processes, based on patient needs and projected growth.
  • Maintains patient/employee confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains competence during the year in accordance with hospital standards, including in-service and continuing education.
  • Maintains competence in regulatory agencies and hospital mandated programs.
  • Liaison for the Department of Radiology with other clinical departments.
  • Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a J.R.C.E.R.T. approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Radiologic NYS DOH License and registration.
  • ARRT certification.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • Minimum of 5 years Radiology management experience.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $71,713 - $107,569 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
