Job summary

California Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero seeks a Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I (Safety) for a permanent, full-time role. The position supervises Clinical Social Workers and interns, collaborates on performance evaluation, and contributes to performance improvement in a forensic hospital setting on the central coast.

Responsibilities include data entry and audit tools, reporting, provision of coverage, staff training, and delivery of individual and group therapies.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and oversight of assigned Clinical Social Workers and interns.
• Collaborates with Program Management and Chief of Social Work to evaluate staff performance and take appropriate action.
• Assists in implementing Performance Improvement.
• Administers audit tools including entering data into databases.
• Interprets and analyzes findings for reports and plans changes in service delivery.
• Provides coverage during the absence of the Chief of Social Work.
• Provides in-services and training to Social Work staff and orientation to new staff.
• Provides individual and group treatment and completes clinical Social Work assessments and documentation.
• Applies Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI) and maintains a safe environment in response to incidents.
