Summary/Purpose
Oversee 3rd shift manufacturing operations for Tier-1 Automotive production in a specific area of the facility.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities
- Assist in developing unit budgets and performance targets.
- Execute production to achieve customer order and shipment requirements.
- Support new program launches, transitioning process development to actual manufacturing capability.
- Supervise and provide direction to reporting team leaders for all operations on the responsible shift.
- Build and support continuity and communication between shifts.
- Support inventory reduction and cost improvement strategies.
- Maintain positive employee relations and development.
- Manage achievement of quality, quantity, and cost objectives.
- Support ongoing safety initiatives and adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership to team leaders in safety, quality, 5S, warranty reduction, and delivery targets, and support all team leader development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Work daily overtime and weekends when directed or necessary to complete essential duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises a department of 5-8 non-exempt employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish a leadership role and promote team systems.
- Strong understanding and commitment to HS&E initiatives.
- Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
The above may be waived by the department Director/Manager and the Human Resources Director if the candidate is otherwise qualified.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in supervision or a business-related field preferred, with 2 to 4 years of leadership experience.
- Previous experience with lean production, continuous flow, Toyota Production Systems, and metal machining, fabrication, or assembly in the automotive industry is a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Sit with intermittent walking.
- Manual dexterity for duties such as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing.
- Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone.
- Visually read reports, computer screens, etc.
- Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked per day, 5 days a week.
