Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a highly motivated Supervisor, Production for the 2nd shift at our Lincoln, NE facility. You will oversee daily operations, manage team performance, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently while promoting safety and quality.

This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to mentor staff and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree with 3-5 years' experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production operations for assigned units or during an assigned shift.
  • Supervises workers that operate production machinery, assemble items, perform quality control, or package goods for shipment.
  • Notifies maintenance or engineering departments when equipment requires maintenance or repair.
  • Monitors output of assigned area(s) against established schedules or quality goals. Coordinates the flow of work through the department and ensures that department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR Directors & General Managers.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dependable individual to fill a Supervisor position. As a Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations, managing team performance, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will serve as a leader, mentor, and communicator for your team while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and standards. Success in this role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and time-management skills, along with the ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.

Position Location Detail: This position is located at our Main Plant facility.

Impact of the Role
General Profile

Working supervisor of a team (spends a portion of time performing the work supervised) or supervises the daily activities of production team members

  • Must have one or more of any direct report type
  • Analyses information to solve on-going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work

  • Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations or Business degree preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Decision-making skills. Problem/situation analysis. Project management skills. Planning skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
