Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Weekend Rigging Production Supervisor at our Williamston site. You will lead crane and mechanical rigging teams, ensuring safe, accurate, and on-schedule movement of materials and finished products through loading, unloading, staging, and shipment preparation.

You will coordinate with Production, Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, and Quality to drive continuous improvement, Lean initiatives, and operational excellence while coaching and developing a high-performing team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with overhead cranes, oversized forklifts, rigging, mechanical assembly, or similar operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience coaching employees, managing performance, and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of Shipping, Receiving, and Loading teams to ensure safe, efficient movement of materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments per production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee safe operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
  • Supervise Mechanical Fitters and Rigging personnel to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to ensure products are built to specification.
  • Provide technical guidance during assembly, rigging, and installation activities.
  • Verify shipping docs, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipment accuracy before delivery.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Materials, Warehouse, and Logistics to prioritize shipments.
  • Monitor inventory movement and material flow to maintain accuracy and minimize delays.
  • Ensure proper loading/unloading procedures and OSHA compliance.
  • Track and improve KPIs like on-time shipments, inventory accuracy, loading efficiency, productivity, and safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization and processes via Lean/CI.
  • Train and develop employees; conduct performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Support hiring and onboarding to build a high-performing team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Safety to resolve issues and implement process improvements.

As the Weekend Rigging Production Supervisor – of our P2 williamston location, you will lead the daily operations of our crane and mechanical rigging teams, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials and finished products throughout the facility. This role is responsible for supervising employees involved in loading, unloading, staging, inventory movement, and shipment preparation using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Partnering closely with Production, Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, and Quality teams, you will ensure customer shipments are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operations of the Shipping, Receiving, and Loading team to ensure safe, efficient, and timely movement of materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring materials are received, staged, loaded, and shipped according to production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the safe operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment used to move large components and finished products.
  • Supervise the daily activities of Mechanical Fitters and Rigging personnel to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives.
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and work orders to ensure products are built to specification.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during mechanical assembly, rigging, and installation activities.
  • Verify shipping documentation, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipment accuracy prior to customer delivery.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Materials, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to prioritize shipments and support production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory movement and material flow to maintain inventory accuracy and minimize production delays.
  • Ensure employees follow proper loading, unloading, lifting, and material handling procedures while maintaining compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Track and improve departmental KPIs including on-time shipments, inventory accuracy, loading efficiency, productivity, and safety performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization, shipping processes, and material flow through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees while conducting performance evaluations, attendance management, and corrective action as needed.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing employee development to build a high-performing team.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to resolve operational issues and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
Required/ Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 + years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading teams performing overhead cranes, oversized forklifts and lulls, mechanical assembly, fabrication, industrial equipment assembly, or similar manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience coaching employees, managing performance, and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Additional / Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising rigging, mechanical fitting, heavy equipment assembly, or industrial manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
Physical & Environmental Requirements: (To be used majorly for manufacturing jobs.)
  • Ability to walk throughout the manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around overhead cranes, forklifts, trailers, and other moving equipment.
