Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Schulenburg, TX is seeking a Production Supervisor to plan, direct and supervise activities to meet production schedules and drive KPI improvements.

You will lead safety initiatives, manage staffing and budgets, ensure SQF/GMP compliance, and champion continuous improvement while collaborating with other departments to resolve issues and optimize operations.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills that foster good working relationships within the organization.
  • Computer knowledge: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously drive the facility’s safety culture and ensure safety training is attended by all employees.
  • Identify and retain highly effective personnel through proper selection and training, and setting expectations.
  • Identify and implement developmental training plans for employees.
  • Partner with the Manager and other supervisors to ensure the department’s budget meets or exceeds its financial goal.
  • Food safety and regulatory responsibilities, and report food safety problems to authorities.
  • Manage the department’s activities to meet QA standards and company specifications.
  • Drive sanitation programs and 5S implementation daily.
  • Develop and implement material standards and inspection procedures to improve quality and reduce downtime.
  • Engage with all personnel to address concerns and questions.
  • Drive KPIs and recommend changes to meet business objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within the department and plant.
  • Manage employee performance through expectations and accountability.
  • Participate in safety programs and cross‑department initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve problems and implement new processes.
  • Ensure effective communication with key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Conduct monthly toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure changes are understood by all employees in a timely fashion.
  • Understand budgeting, uptime, problem solving, motivation, long-range planning, and labor relations.

Schedule

2:00pm to 11:00pm, Monday-Friday with rotating weekend coverage

General Purpose

The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing and supervising activities and employees in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and regulatory standards to meet requirements of established production schedules and to achieve continuous improvement in results of Key Performance Indicators. The Production Supervisor is responsible to ensure employees are trained, provided appropriate tools and have expectations provided in an appropriate manner and timely.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Continuously drive the facility’s culture toward a higher level of safety. Challenge status quo safety behaviors, engage in Safety initiatives and ensure safety related training is attended by all employees.
  • Identify and retain highly effective personnel through proper selection, training, and establishing expectations.
  • Identify and implement developmental training plans for employees.
  • Partner with the Manager and other supervisors to ensure the department’s budget meets or exceeds its financial goal.
  • Food safety and regulatory responsibilities, and responsible for meeting the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing, AIB American Institute of Baking GMP audit, and shall report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Manage the department’s activities in order to meet or exceed the standards and specifications established by Quality Assurance and the organization.
  • Drive the MSS program, manage the Sanitation Standards, Procedures, Equipment Inspection and Sanitary equipment standards on a daily basis
  • Manage the 5S implementation throughout department by ensuring understanding and establishing sustainability daily.
  • Develop and implement material standards and the necessary control and inspection procedures to improve product quality and reduce downtime.
  • Engage and interact with all personnel on a regular basis assisting them with their concerns and questions.
  • Drive key performance indicators to all levels within the organization and participate in making recommendations for necessary changes to enhance the business objectives.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities within the department, operations, and other areas of the facility as part of the team to ensure plant sustainability.
  • Manage employee’s performance through establishing expectations, holding people accountable and developing a sense of urgency understanding when addressing Operational needs or problems.
  • Participate in activities such as training and safety programs in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the work area involved.
  • Partner with other departments regarding the resolution of ongoing problems, the implementation of new procedures or process, the injection of new products or product lines, and the development of new plan and designs.
  • Ensure good business communication practices are engaged at all levels to ensure key stakeholders are well informed, have the ability to appropriately respond.
  • Conduct Monthly Toolbox Meetings with employees
  • Ensure all process changes, equipment changes or product changes are understood by all employees in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure a decisive understanding of budgeting, uptime, problem solving techniques, motivational techniques, long range planning, and Employee & Labor Relations are understood and implemented during the course of business.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required that are within the FLSA status of this position.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • 1+ year of experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Skills that foster good working relationships with all levels within the organization.

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Food, beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience
  • 1-3 years of union environment experience, collective bargaining agreement administration
  • Computer experience- SAP and other operating systems
  • Better Process Control School
