Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Supervisor, Police & Security at the Chautauqua facility in Jamestown, NY. The role centers on leading a Police and Security team to ensure a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff.

In addition to field duties, the position involves administrative tasks, supervising personnel, and coordinating with hospital management to meet safety goals. The supervisor will assist with staffing decisions and budget monitoring while ensuring certifications are maintained

Qualifications

• Prior law enforcement leadership experience required.
• Experience with staffing, hiring, and budgeting.
• Certified to maintain department certifications.
• Strong reporting and supervision skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, discipline, and schedule staff as appropriate.
• Assist in staffing decisions (hiring, firing, promotion).
• Assist with department budget preparation and monitoring.
• Train staff and ensure certifications are maintained.
• Handle day-to-day operational issues and problems.
• Maintain security systems and department equipment.
• Maintain relationships with local agencies.
• Provide reporting as needed.
• Review subordinate reports for accuracy and grammar.

Purpose

Works with and oversees other members of the Police and Security Team to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees at the hospital facility. In addition to performing as a member of the Police and Security Team, this position also handles administrative tasks, supervises other police and security members, and works harmoniously with hospital management to meet safety goals. Assists with budget preparation and monitoring. Handles and resolves day to day operational issues based on department requirements.
