Job summary

Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor

The Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor delivers frontline leadership and operational oversight for pharmacy services across shifts, units, or functional areas such as inpatient dispensing, sterile compounding, and decentralized clinical services. The role ensures safe, accurate, timely, and cost‑effective medication management in compliance with state and federal pharmacy law, USP <797>/<800> standards, and hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily workflow and supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
• Support quality and medication‑safety initiatives.
• Serve as key liaison between staff and pharmacy department leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy (ACPE).
• Minimum 5 years experience in an Acute Care Hospital Pharmacy.
• Experience working with Epic EHR.
• RPH Registered Pharmacist – California Board of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacist BPS Board certification.
• Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing technology, and standard office software.
• Ability to work all shifts, including weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with USP <797>/<800> sterile compounding oversight.
• 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Prior lead, charge, or supervisory experience in a pharmacy setting.
• ASHP PGY1 residency.
• Demonstrated leadership, precepting, or committee participation.

Additional Skills

• Working knowledge of California and federal pharmacy law, DEA regulations, and USP compounding standards.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage competing priorities and respond to urgent situations.
• Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing technology, and standard office software.

Work Shift & Compensation

Work Shift: Exempt Days (Mon‑Fri). Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Pay Range: $99.60 – $149.39 hourly, adjusted to local market.
