Job summary

Options for Southern Oregon seeks a Peer Supervisor to lead recovery-focused peer services and provide mentorship to staff. The role includes teaching, coaching, and facilitating groups to promote professional growth within the peer scope of practice.

The supervisor will coordinate integration of peer services across agency departments, support staff with education and supervision, and travel between sites as needed to support program goals.

Qualifications

• Must be state-certified as a Peer Support Specialist and listed in THW registry.
• CRM II registration is required.
• 2 years of progressively responsible peer support experience in addictions or mental health.
• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Office applications.

Overview

The supervisor for peer services is an individual who self-identifies as being in recovery from a substance abuse disorder and/or a mental illness. The supervisor provides ongoing education and support to peer staff on peer focused services including teaching peer staff the knowledge and skills they need to perform the work. The supervisor provides mentorship and support through strength-based interventions, education, coaching, and assists staff to grow professionally within the peer scope of practice. The supervisor works to successfully support the integration of peer services into the agency’s departments. The peer supervisor also provides direct peer services and facilitates groups as needed. Services provided by peers (people who have lived experience with a substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment) include outreach, mentoring, teaching and advocacy.

Responsibilities

Works effectively and collaboratively with clients, diverse treatment teams and community partners.

Provides supervision that focuses on but is not limited to peer competencies, the agency code of conduct, professional boundaries and role, skills development, documentation, ethical standards, independent and team approaches to services and community resources.

Provides supervision, evaluation and training to staff and ensures that agency directives are carried out. Promotes recovery-oriented practices and values.

Facilitates or co-facilitates peer groups for clients.

Responsible for developing and facilitating peer advisory council comprised of agency clients, on behalf of the agency.

Provides weekly supervision for peer staff in group or individually to help the staff grow professionally.

Coordinates the successful integration of peer services into various agency departments, working closely with program managers and clinical directors.

Develops and maintains competencies in program-specific evidence-based practices.

Travels between sites and is required to drive, and depending on needs of the program, may transport clients.

Qualifications

Must be currently certified by the State as a Peer Support Specialist and listed in the Traditional Health Worker (THW) registry and be registered as a CRM II.

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a peer in behavioral health services to evaluate and guide peer program staff in the delivery of peer delivered services and supports.

Possess personal life experience and tools of self-directed recovery and resiliency, and the ability to support others in their recovery.

2 years of progressively responsible experience in an addictions or mental health Peer Support program.

Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record to be approved for driving rights. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.

Possess business experience sufficient to meet the demands of the position, including proficiency with a variety of software applications.

Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred.
