Job Overview

The Supervisor of Patient Access oversees daily registration functions within the scope of Patient Access. Ensures proper staffing, promotes a positive patient experience, and demonstrates strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with staff, patients, families, and leadership. Supervises registration processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental protocols. Prioritizes responsibilities, resolves departmental and patient issues, and monitors key performance metrics to meet goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, embodying Jefferson's values.
  • Maintain staffing schedules, respond to time-off requests, and manage resources to ensure department coverage with minimal overtime.
  • Manage on-site operations including payroll, attendance, downtime support, and deposit reconciliation.
  • Respond to patient complaints and stakeholder concerns, and continuously seek process improvements.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees, ensuring competency and full integration into the team.
  • Provide constructive feedback, escalate issues timely, and appraise staff performance.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, foster a positive attitude, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional protocols.
  • Achieve individual and team performance metrics and complete quality assurance reviews.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations, providing feedback and setting goals with staff.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or business administration required; or minimum 5 years of relevant healthcare experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and HFMA certifications preferred.
  • At least 2 years of patient registration experience and 3 years of supervisory experience in healthcare settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, familiar with EHR systems like EPIC or Cerner.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage, benefits, authorizations, and coverage requirements.
