Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to provide direct on-site analysis of day-to-day operations within the Pathology Laboratories, ensuring compliant workflow, test performance, quality, and documentation for the Rapid Response/Satellite location. This role upholds MetroHealth's mission and service standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science and ASCP MT/MLS registration, with at least five years of bench experience and strong communication skills;

• Minimum 5 years of laboratory bench experience in the area of responsibility.
• ASCP MT/MLS registration or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct on-site analysis of day-to-day operation and adjust specimen workflow, test performance, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with MetroHealth and Pathology policies and applicable regulatory agencies.
• Supervise the Rapid Response/Satellite location of the Pathology Laboratories and uphold the system's mission and service standards.

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: M-F - first shift - 8a - 5p with additional hrs as needed

Summary

Provides direct on-site analysis of the day-to-day operation including adjustment of specimen workflow, test performance, quality, compliance, and associated documentation to adhere to the applicable regulatory agencies, MetroHealth and Pathology policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation and supervision of the assigned Rapid Response/Satellite location of the Pathology Laboratories. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology and 5 years of laboratory bench experience as a Laboratory Technologist in the area(s) of service for which the Supervisor is responsible.
• Registered Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent registration.
• Needs to be able to perform moderate complexity testing competency assessments in accordance with CLIA -42CFR493.1413.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds Preferred: Supervisory experience.
• Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Ability to communicate face-to-face, via phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents
