SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and supervision of the section including the technical, financial, and human resource operations. Also responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance and serving as a liaison to laboratory administration, other hospital services, patients, and clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical or biological science and 1 year training and experience in high-complexity testing;
  • OR Associate degree in medical laboratory technology (or pulmonary function) and 2 years laboratory (or blood gas analysis) training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing required. Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements. The equivalency evaluations will be performed by a nationally recognized organization.

Ex. National Association Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES), the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE). The applicant is responsible for paying the cost of the equivalency evaluation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Good Communication, Computer And Customer Service Skills Required.
  • Expert technical knowledge and skills required.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Supervisory Experience Preferred.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • ASCP Or Other Nationally Recognized Laboratory Certification Preferred.
