SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Directly supervise, lead and coordinate the daily activities of Cytogenetics workers. Assists with management decisions and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Must be Technologist in Cytogenetics, CG(ASCP) certified

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related life sciences field from an accredited college/university with a combination of thirty (30) semester hours in biology and chemistry
  • Must be Technologist in Cytogenetics, CG(ASCP) certified

Four (4) years clinical laboratory experience in Cytogenetics such as primary cell culture and harvest, slide preparation and staining, chromosome analysis, microscopic and image analysis and cytogenetics analysis (karyotype, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and/or chromosome microarray (CMA)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited cytogenetics education program
