Job summary

GI Alliance in Connecticut seeks a Pathology Supervisor for the second shift (2pm–11pm) to oversee specimen handling, slide preparation, quality control, and daily lab operations. The role requires leadership, attention to detail, and strong communication within a fast-paced pathology setting.

The candidate will assist with scheduling, payroll, and staff relations while ensuring compliance with CLIA 88 regulations and quality programs. Local travel and collaboration with physicians are possible.

Qualifications

• AA in Science or equivalent or HT/HTL ASCP with CLIA 88 compliance.
• Five years of experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily laboratory operations.
• Assist with scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
• Assist in staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
• Support departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of Pathology Laboratory.
• Provide technical expertise and back up for all duties performed in the pathology laboratory.
• Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and standards.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring laboratory safety, quality assessment, and improvement programs.
• Maintain good relationships with physicians, colleagues, and vendors to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve operational issues.
• Other duties as assigned

Position purpose

The Pathology Supervisor is responsible for assisting in all phases of specimen handling and slide preparation of pathology specimens, including quality control and assurance

Qualifications

Education

• AA in Science or equivalent OR
• HT or HTL (ASCP) OR
• Education and training are sufficient to support CLIA 88 requirements for the position held. This is to be reflective of the scope of practice in regular scheduled responsibilities and pay grade meeting all HCFA-CLIA 88 “testing personnel” criteria.

Experience: Five (5) year experience in laboratory setting.

Equipment Operated

This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Also, laboratory equipment is used daily.

Work Environment

This job operates in professional laboratory environments. Frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving/mechanical parts, sharp objects, blood or body fluids, communicable diseases, LED computer monitors, repetitive motions. Local travel in the region may be required to another location as needed.
