Job summary

Ryder in Inwood, WV is seeking a Supervisor - Packaging/Production for our Supply Chain Solutions division. The role leads packaging/production on a Friday–Sunday schedule of 7:00am–7:00pm and pays an annual salary of $65,000 with exempt status.

Ideal candidates have packaging/production leadership experience and may be bilingual in English and Spanish; benefits include comprehensive medical plans, 401(k) with match, stock purchase options, and paid holidays with PTO in the first year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day logistics operations on the shift or area
• Coordinate with Logistics Manager to plan and review processes to meet standards
• Establish schedules and procedures for the team and ensure optimum shift logistics
• Monitor site KPI and drive continuous improvement efforts
• Collaborate with customers on operational aspects of the business
• Conduct regular performance reviews and recognize team achievements
• Foster Diversity and Inclusion and streamline internal processes
• Address performance issues via corrective actions and disciplinary steps
• Ensure health, safety, and security practices are followed and communicated
• Provide orientation and resources to employees and Lead Hands

Summary

Supervisors are responsible for leading their shift or assigned area of the operation, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations. They coach, train, develop, and support their teams while driving engagement and accountability. In addition, they play a critical role in continuous improvement efforts, operational excellence, and achieving key customer performance metrics.

Essential Functions

• Supervise, coordinate and oversee day to day logistics operations;
• Plan and review, in collaboration with the Logistics Manager, all logistics processes, ensuring that they meet the company standards and customer service specifications
• Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities of the workers to ensure optimal shift/team logistics
• Accountable for site Key Performance Indication (KPI)
• Working in collaboration with customer in all aspect of operations
• Meet regularly with team members collectively, as well as on an individual basis to monitor progress towards meeting objectives, track performance, coach and counsel as well as recognizing team and individual successes
• Cultivate team spirit with a Diversity and Inclusion initiative and promote cooperation by seeking opportunities to improve internal processes
• Carry out performance evaluations of the team members and recommend performance awards and/or merit increases when appropriate
• Address performance problems through corrective action and disciplinary process
• Responsible for implementation of health & safety and security initiatives, practices and behaviors and adherence to company rules and policies
• Provide appropriate orientation for employees and Lead Hands and give them the information, technology and any material necessary to perform their jobs
